New Appointment System Trial
Posted or Updated on 18 Jul 2024
Dear patient
The practice is going to trial a new way of booking appointments.
As you may be aware, it is sometimes difficult to get a consultation when you need one, and you currently have to wait for up to two weeks.
The proposed system will mean that all consultations will be bookable only two days in advance.
This means that you can call and book your consultation for either the following working day, or the working day after that.
All emergency calls will be, as now, passed to the gp for “on the day” triage.
All routine consultations will be bookable for the next two working days only.
If the GP asks you to book back in for a particular length of time e.g. “see me in four weeks” the receptionist will do this for you.
We hope that this new method will:
- Make it easier to get a consultation when you feel unwell
- Reduce the number of patients who do not attend their pre-booked consultation, ensuring that more patients get seen when they are unwell
The practice will trial this system for three months, and then ask for feedback via an opinion form.
I hope that you can work with us to improve access for all out patients.
Thank you
